Water- and Aging-Resistant Adaptation Process for Flame-Retardant Powders in Waterproofing Membranes
2026-09-14 16:30:16

Modified waterproofing membranes, polymer waterproofing membranes, roofing membranes, and basement impermeable membranes are widely used in building roofing, basement, and exterior wall waterproofing works. Long exposed to outdoor open-air, underground dampness, rainwater immersion, and alternating temperature conditions, they must simultaneously satisfy multiple properties: waterproofing, flame retardation, water resistance, aging resistance, crack resistance, and high-low temperature tolerance.

Conventional flame-retardant powders have strong hydrophilicity and poor aging resistance. After filling, they easily exude and lose efficacy by water absorption, leading to declined membrane waterproofing performance, attenuated flame-retardant rating, and long-term chalking and cracking—compromising the dual safety of building waterproofing and fire protection.

Weifang Wanfeng New Materials' hydrophobic, aging-resistant flame-retardant powders specially designed for waterproofing membranes undergo proprietary hydrophobic activation and weather-resistant modification. The powder offers excellent hydrophobicity and extremely low water absorption, with superb compatibility with asphalt and polymer membrane substrates—neither exuding nor failing by water absorption, perfectly suiting damp and immersed conditions.

Hydrophobic aluminum hydroxide powder uniformly fills the membrane substrate, enhancing membrane density and waterproof/impermeable performance, while stably imparting flame-retardant and fire-resistant capability—eliminating fire hazards from flammable membranes in roofing and basements.

Weather-resistant magnesium hydroxide powder withstands high temperatures and resists aging, enduring summer high-temperature sun exposure and winter low-temperature freeze-cracking, maintaining membrane flame-retardant and waterproof performance over the long term and extending membrane service life.

Hexagonal-platelet powder improves membrane tensile toughness and flex resistance, adapting to roof expansion-contraction and substrate deformation without easily cracking or breaking.

Magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite synergistically resists aging and suppresses smoke while retarding flame, enhancing membrane weather resistance and fire-safety rating.

The entire powder series is compatible with various waterproofing membrane systems—asphalt, TPU, PVC, and EVA—with strong processing adaptability that does not affect membrane calendering, lamination, or molding processes.
